They're happier now that he says that he's going to come visit, though, and so I'm now in the mood to write again.

Mouse has been busy helping the cataloging fairy. Personally, I think he's only doing it so that he gets to use the very pretty glittery pen! I tried to help, but it was just so delicious looking I couldn't quite stop myself from nibbling just a little! So now I'm helping by putting "new" stickers on all the books they've finished and putting them out on display. I'm running out of room, though, so hopefully people will come and borrow them to read!

The librarians have been making displays, too! There's a really big one with all sorts of books about trees, water, rocks, and the environment for Earth Day. I've been reading them and they're really neat! One is even all about beavers, so I think that one's my favourite, but it's hard to choose.

Speaking of the environment, it's snowing right now! For reals! I thought it was supposed to rain in April, not snow! I'm going to sneak over to the fireplace for a nap right now! Maybe Mouse will take a break from helping catalogue and bring his blanket over.

ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz....

Buplhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04303089776908375575noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2296247187059463590.post-39624488170795266222010-03-12T13:07:00.000-08:002010-03-12T13:07:00.541-08:00Great Glitterfulness!Hey! Did you hear?? A very merry, twinkle, sprinkle, pretty, itty bitty fairy has come to the library! And what's more...she wants to help!

She brought her glasses and a little sparkle pen, and for just a quarter, she offered to catalogue one of our books! I asked what would happen if we gave her a lot of quarters, and she pushed up her glasses, scrunched up her nose, smiled and said. "Then I'll have a lotta work to do!"

It seems fairies like shiny things, I've read that before, there are lots and lots of books here about fairies and magical places and queens and armies...where was I? Oh yeah, fairies! So, yeah, she really likes quarters, and when a fairy makes a deal, they really stick to it. So I've been checking under chairs, between books and everywhere I can to find more for her.

If any of you have extra quarters, please bring them in! Not only is she helping us out with our work, but the longer she has to work the longer she'll stay, and she's sooo pretty! I hope she stays around. Welcome Library Fairy!Buplhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04303089776908375575noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2296247187059463590.post-46149977643562502002010-03-04T13:09:00.000-08:002010-03-12T11:42:07.478-08:00Website Upper-grade!The papers are everywhere, the paint is still drying, the pictures are a little sideways, but wow! Does the new webpage ever look good! I didn't really help at all, but I've been watching, and waiting and it's finally, completely, utterly except for a few finishing touches done!

Mouse and I were really waiting to see this, weren't we? There's even a cute little picture of me! I mean...I don't think I'm super cute, but the picture is! I'm not one of those, "Oh, look at me and my shiny fur and my big flat tail" kind of beavers, those are the show offs. But there are places for everything, even the people who work at the library have their favorite books listed! I wonder if I could get my favorite books listed? I'll have to send them an email about it.

Speaking of papers everywhere, that big list of books seems to be getting bigger! I mean, it's all over the place!! Here, there, a lot of it not in order, it's really crazy. I'm trying my best to help, piling them back together again, I just hope this silly inventory thing is done soon!Buplhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04303089776908375575noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2296247187059463590.post-67593027604151295692010-02-26T18:30:00.000-08:002010-02-26T18:30:00.276-08:00Bo~rn freeeeee!Oh, happy doys joy and glad offerings! Once again, I am free, unbound from the wretched prison of fallen hardcovers, and I can finally stretch my legs! And my tail! And my neck! And now I can type for myself again, though Mouse did a very good job besides putting words in my mouth. Even if they were true.

Oh? He says he was practicing to be a ghost writer. I didn't think he liked all that spooky stuff, but never judge by a cover, right? I love a good scary book, especially if you read it at night, by flashlight. During a thunderstorm is even better. Sometimes a good little scare is what you need to get your heart racing. But if it gets too scary, it's always good to have a friend nearby.

What? Mouse says it's not that kind of ghost writer, but what other type is there? I mean, if you write about ghosts, they're going to be spooky, right? I mean, ghosts and hauntings and all that...there's even books on if it's real!

Could you imagine, sitting here reading by the fire in the library, then you see someone in an old fashion dress walk by...she turns and looks at you, then poof! She just disappears?! Okay, now I'm getting a bit scared. I'm going to go read something else.Buplhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04303089776908375575noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2296247187059463590.post-105628673180637622010-02-22T08:46:00.000-08:002010-02-22T08:54:47.354-08:00Many hands make...a lot of fingers!Wow, so many people have been by to help out, I can actually move around now! I've been doing my part, reading as fast as I can to help make a hole. Now there's room to sit down, so it's actually quite comfy.

Best of all the different people helping has been this nice lady, Pat. She works so hard, for so long, sometimes I think she might be a robot! But, if robots worked in libraries, what would the librarians do??

Well, I better go, I'm dictating this to Mouse, and he's running back and forth on the keyboard, I think his little wheels are getting tired. He's been so helpful, typing for me, bringing me pencils to snack on, being my best friend and the most perfectest Library Mouse in the whole worlds, hey I didn't say that!

Oh Well!Buplhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04303089776908375575noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2296247187059463590.post-58458660562534304032010-02-12T10:30:00.000-08:002010-02-12T10:37:49.149-08:00Ack! Help!Dearest, favorite-est, happiest patrons, I'm trapped! One by one by one by one all the books are being checked and double checked, so piles and piles are being set aside. These are the new ones that need to be re-catalogued, but a horrible, terrible-est thing has happened! They fell over, a ginormous avalanche of reference proportions! And now, yours truly has been trapped behind the mess with one a computer, my glasses and 37 pencils. Well, and lots of reading material.

One by one by one the librarians are work to clear it, but being librarians they have to put everything back in it's right spot, so it's a bit of slow going. Any help would be so happy and thankfully appreciated! The sooner these books are cleared away, the sooner I can see my good friend Mouse again.

Mouse! Can you hear me?! If you can, be careful of the book pile! And remember to turn the lights out at night! (I can't reach the switch from back here!)Buplhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04303089776908375575noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2296247187059463590.post-68671754393062394302010-02-04T16:00:00.000-08:002010-02-04T16:00:00.335-08:00Band books?and The library is having some special kind of week, and it's all about reading. I expected that, cause it's a library, don't you know! But they keep talking about 'band books'. They have this really cool display set up, with posters and 'Attention' tape...but there are no books about bands there...hmm...

They have some really neat books, though, and some I've only seen once or twice. There's "And Tango Makes Three", "The Handmaid's Tale" and "The Giver", not to mention a couple shelves more! There are a few movies and stuff, all of it sounds really neat.

Wait, I just read the posters they have there. I guess, at one time or another, these are all books and stuff that got banned, or people tried to stop them from getting printed. I guess they didn't like what the stories were about. I Don't really like stories about hunting and trapping, and things like that. *shudder* But other people might like them, so I just won't read them myself.

I wonder what kind of stories there are in these books?Buplhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04303089776908375575noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2296247187059463590.post-83821198700484283652010-01-28T13:51:00.000-08:002010-01-28T13:51:00.215-08:00Huzzah and hooray! One of my favoritest people is back at the library, Jana! She's back, and here, and helping, and everything! Considering how much fun she has here, I don't know why she ever left, but into every beaver's life a few leaves must fall.

Speaking of fall and seasons and weather and spring, I think the clouds sprung a leak! Whoever was working the snow making machine things broke something, cause it was raining like crazy! So much of the snow melted, there were little rivers in the streets; I was tempted to go out and dam one of them up, but that would have made it really hard for all the cars and buses and trucks and big ol' sport thingies. Instead, I just played in the yard, made a little dam on the walkway to the library, then put it all away. Just like I put away my galoshes. It's one thing for a beaver to go swimming, but in the rain, even I need to wear my rubber boots.

But now it's snowing again, and the spring is over, back to winter and completely skipping summer and fall. Oh well, there'll be another spring soon enough, and that's soon enough for me. Once I tried off and snuggled down in front of the fireplace, it was pretty watching the snow fall in big wispy, wiffy, cotton balls.

Isn't weather fun?Buplhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04303089776908375575noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2296247187059463590.post-73267724923718422082010-01-21T16:00:00.000-08:002010-01-21T16:00:03.119-08:00Put the Book Right in, Take the DVD Out...Stuff's here, then there, it's like a shuffle-palooza!

They've been writing down the titles of all the DVDs, and books, and scanning everything at the front counter. All day long, all you can hear is 'beep....beep....beep'! Carts of stuff go by, I'm really lucky, they just barely missed my tail this morning. Course, my tail just kind of drags behind me, Mouse's tail actually moves around and quivers and whips. I wonder what it would be like to have a different tail...

How about a monkey tail? I could hang from the lights! Or, or, or, how about a big ol' kangaroo tail, I could lean back on it with my tummy up in the air! Maybe a curly-cute piggy tail, or big feathery peacock's tail?

Do any of you ever wonder what it would be like to be different, to change a little something about yourself?

Mouse says, if he could change anything about himself, it would be his fur; he wants softer, fluffier fur so he can be cuddly-comfy-cosy all the time. That would be neat, it would be like having a fuzzy fleece blanket with you all the time. Then you could sit by the fire and read with your friends.

All this talk of blankets is making me sleepy. I think I'll take a nap until they stop moving things. That's one thing my tail is really good for, it's like carrying a little mattress with me wherever I go. I think I do like it, after all.Buplhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04303089776908375575noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2296247187059463590.post-53499165967920293412010-01-14T12:06:00.000-08:002010-01-14T12:23:01.973-08:00Mmm...sparkle-icious...It's soooo pretty!! Having a working computer is a pretty big deal for a library. Don't get me wrong, the card catalogues they used to use were incredible...the crisp smell of ink when a new card was filled out and added to the stack, the beautiful sleek cabinets all the cards would go into, dozens of little drawers, a piece of art polished and shiny...looking so beautiful...so delicious...whoops, my tummy started to grumble there.

But, well, what was I saying before I started talking about those cabinets...the polished feel...the smell. Mouse says I have to stop that, it's not my fault, they just look so incredible. Give me a sec to read back...right, computers!

That's what's so pretty and shiny, they got a new computer here, or at least new enough that hopefully nothing else will explode for a while. For a while they were talking about evergreen trees, but I don't know why, I never liked them cause when you start chewing through them, the sap gets all gummy and caught in my teeth, but not in a good way. It's like gnawing on a big wad of toffee at Halloween, but not nearly as sweet.

So, yeah, new computer for the library to work on, yay! It sounded like they wanted to get new ones for everybody to use, too, as well as a bunch of new books and other stuff, but some budgie wasn't big enough? They're pretty small birds, so I can understand that, although I've never seen one around the library. Sometimes I see chickadees outside the windows, or hear geese flying by, maybe even a bluejay if I'm lucky...what's that Mouse? That doesn't make any sense, even if they have to give pieces of paper to people to get stuff, we're in a library, remember? There's paper everywhere! Wait...but we don't want to wreck the books...hmm...maybe I could get them some trees and they could make their own paper, that might work! I love the library, and I love to help out!Buplhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04303089776908375575noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2296247187059463590.post-74055907668657514872010-01-08T12:50:00.000-08:002010-01-08T13:07:47.695-08:00Crash-Bang-Boom!*cough*

Don't mind the smoke, it'll clear out in a minute or two. Wow, my coat's all dirty now...I'll have to clean up before I go to bed.

Did it ever get crazy-crashy-system-smashy!

I don't know what those librarians did, but one minute everything was calm and quiet, going along like a nice, gentle river. Then all of a sudden...click, whirrr, beeep, beeep, click...

Something happened, and now the computer has amnesia! It doesn't remember anything that's happened in the past few months!! Luckily, it still remembered me, or no one would have read another word from yours truly and Mouse. Mouse was worried for a while, he said sometimes computers get cold...no I think it was 'colds', like a bug, or was it a virus. A virus, that's what it was! Or what he said. Or what he thought might have happened. He said he had a virus once, it made him do everything backwards. So, if he wanted to go forward, he had to go backwards, and to go backwards, he had to walk forwards. Left was right, up was down, black was white! Well, no, black was still black and white was still white, like a clean sheet of paper. But Mouse said it was hard to walk around for a while.

Mouse says that sometimes computers just get old, or little pieces wear out...tiny pieces we can't even see! I trust him, though. Mouse is smaller than me, so he knows a lot about small things. But now the librarians have to teach the computer everything it forgot, so I'm helping too. I'm re-reading all the old books I read to Mouse, so the computer can listen in. Mouse thought we should make some soup, and I agreed. The computer didn't want it though, so we had it ourselves. I love chicken noodle soup!

This was definitely a fun time, getting ready to read all my old, favorite books again. Maybe this is what people mean about starting the year off with a bang. What? What was all that smoke from? Well...I'm not very good in the kitchen. I should have asked for help when I was making our soup, now I have a mess to clean up. Oops!

Happy New Year from Bupl and Library Mouse!!!Buplhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04303089776908375575noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2296247187059463590.post-72641891673740847272009-12-31T12:44:00.000-08:002009-12-31T12:44:00.095-08:00All by myself...sortaI didn't realize everyone left the library for so long over the holidays! I went and visited Mama and Pops, they've got a neat little place down the river, very cosy. Library Mouse must have went somewhere too, because when I got back, he was nibbling on home-made cookies and was wearing a weird hat. I think it was a sombrero!

Mouse and I had lots of fun with everything so quiet; we made a game out of stacking books side by side, then tipping over the first one...and watching them all tumble! It was like a big noisy version of dominoes! It got a little scary when Mouse had to run out of the way, and we learned to be a lot more careful. But it was fun, and we laughed and laughed, we also made sure we cleaned everything up. I don't think the librarian would like it, coming in the next morning and finding everything a huge mess!

Mouse and I are trying to come up with other ideas of things to do. There are lots of books about sports, so we thought about trying to make our own! Maybe...who can read the fastest-est? That's not really a sport. Maybe just carrying heavy books, like a weight lifter? Oh, and a race around different stacks, that could be fun! I'll talk to Mouse, and see what he says. Happy holidays!!Buplhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04303089776908375575noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2296247187059463590.post-41868835134649233372009-12-16T14:35:00.000-08:002009-12-16T14:52:09.901-08:00Jingly-jingle bells!Brr...it got really cold, really fast! I'm just really glad I've got a fur coat. I mean, the fireplace in the library is nice, but you have to sit really close to feel any heat, so Mouse and I curl up in front of it. Mouse brings his blanket, and we share while I read him a story. Mouse can read on his own, but he has a bit of trouble turning the pages of bigger books. Besides, what are friends for?

With Christmas coming up, I can see all the different activities the librarians have planned on the big wall calender. They're doing things like making gingerbread houses (yum!), making ornaments and even Christmas crafts! I like the idea of making things, beavers are naturally creative. I mean, we spend most of our lives building and renovating our homes! Never know when you might need a guest room, or another bathroom.

But I'm having some trouble with something...I want to give Mouse a present. Shh! Don't let him know! But I don't know what to make him. Maybe one of you might have an idea, what are some kind of gifts that you think Mouse might like? Have you ever made a gift for a friend before? Any and all ideas would be great, thanks you library-type persons!Buplhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04303089776908375575noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2296247187059463590.post-47449313613502351362009-12-10T12:37:00.000-08:002009-12-10T12:51:58.170-08:00It's Beginning to look a lot...Wow.

I mean, really, wow...

I'm not used to having this place to myself during the week, but on Wednesday (I could tell it was Wednesday cause it was the day after Tuesday, but before Thursday) there was a HUGE snowstorm. So huge, the people couldn't even get to the library! I could see the snow outside, being whipped around by the wind WHOOOSH one way, and then WHOOOSH the other.

Actually, it made me a little dizzy, watching the snow, so I quit looking out the window. Mouse just snuggled up in his little blanket, and I sat on the new couch. Oh it was soooo comfy! And I was careful to follow the couch rules, although why any-beaver would want to write on a couch, I don't know. That's what books are for!

It was especially fun because the weekend before, Santa had visited! I even got a candy cane!! He left it for me, I know cause it had a tag with my name on in. Well, actually, it said "Beaver and Mouse", so I shared some of it with Mouse. It was good and crunchy, though, very different from pencils.

So it was a quiet little day, in a quiet little library, reading on the couch next to a quiet little Mouse. Well, not that quiet; Mouse is a noisy eater. But I couldn't hear him over the wind, so it was okay.

Here's a picture of a snowflake cause it snowed sooo much!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 229px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqZEVSmgNk_mEzTkFISz3VMQv2PJ5-lw2_FybozYLaFUTQdahaMxNQJYViUW6Oas6vUNt_nDSe2c9p-GDSyZ2ypAjE4mffB9TPUr1U5c5Cf1m7BcjRPY21U7Lkx7UBR_iRIOe7rFJq0DBw/s320/snowflakes.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5413712102930251474" />Buplhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04303089776908375575noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2296247187059463590.post-26875067036344600152009-12-04T12:42:00.000-08:002009-12-04T13:10:05.469-08:00Ta da!! First post!Wow, setting this up was a lot harder than I expected. Now I'm really glad my little buddy Mouse offered to help.

Hello internet people and book readers! My name is Bupl, and this is my blog. Anyone who checks out my profile will see two things, probably. Well, there's a lot more than two things, but two things really stand out. First, I'm a beaver. On top of that, I live in a library! How cool is that? Well, I think it's cool, at least.

Who's Mouse, you're wondering? He's the Library Mouse that lives here too. He hangs out with the kids, and some nice ladies even made him a little blanket. Mouse is swell, and he knows lots about computers. That's why he helps me out. Me, I like books, I love to read and read and read. Books are made of paper, and paper comes from trees. Since I'm a beaver, I have a thing for trees, but I have more of a thing for books. *grin* But I am a very special beaver, or so I've been told.

Well, Mouse has been showing me how to use the computers to look up books in the library, but once I got reading stuff on the computer, I got a little side tracked. Then I found out about these blog things. Did you know 'blog' really means 'web log', like a diary on the internet? It does, honest! I looked it up! Anyhow, the truth is...I'm kind of shy. I mentioned before, Mouse has plenty of friends, but whenever people come into the library...I hide. *blush* I know, it's kind of silly.

Since I'm a beaver, I have big front teeth, to chew down trees. Since books come from paper, which comes from trees, I have to try really hard not to chew on the books! I still chew on pencils, though, cause I write a lot. The erasers taste funny, though. My advise: do NOT eat pencil erasers, and don't even chew pencils, unless you're a beaver. But since I've got these big front teeth, when I talk I sort of...whistle. It's soooo embarassing! So I hide out while other people are in the library. But here, on my fancy-shmancy, super-shiny new blog of deliciousness, I can write out what I want to say, no whistling! Yay!

So, when I get the chance, I'll probably write about books I'm reading, what I'm thinking or doing. Maybe Mouse will even share some stories; he has plenty of friends, but he's got a small little voice. He's a sweet little guy though! For now though, my hands are kind of tired. That's a whole lot of typing I just got done! Feel free to stop by and say hi to me here, or check out my library's webpage. They even have a Facebook page! What's a facebook, like a picture book with faces? I must have said something funny, cause Mouse is laughing at me. Oh well!Buplhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04303089776908375575noreply@blogger.com1
